In the beginning… there was panic.

Endless, mindless panic.
Then cooler heads prevailed and everyone finally got some bloody work done.

It’s funny how you can spend forever talking yourself out of something, only to have reality smack you in the face – repeatedly and  occasionally with objects.
So, as  fairy-tales have told me all my life, the power was in me all along.  Now I’ll be illustrating my own graphic novel – based on a script I’ve been working on for ages.

It’s not going to be easy, I haven’t even begun to explore technique yet – but I’m posting something I was forced to to do for homework, something that turned out rather well, considering it took me only an evening and images found on the web. My expectations of myself were quite low, but I felt compelled to do it, if only to stake a claim to this project as something I was worthy of… or more likely force me to give it over to more competent hands.
It’s so easy to let the attitudes of others dissuade you from starting or push you in a direction you don’t want to go in once you do. In the end the only person you really have to answer to is yourself. If I fail at this it will be my own fault.

I can live with that.

This is not the final version by any stretch, but posting it should encourage me to work on technique so I can  replace it with something much, much better.

I can’t draw, but I can tell a visual story beautifully by other means.

So that is what I will do.

No, I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m doing it anyway.

copyrighted… me!

Update December 22nd: Yes, this is still in the works!
